Attorney Online, or "HE HAD GLOVES ON"
Attorney Online is basically Ace Attorney multiplayer - join a server, pick a character, and go nuts. The community has a specific way of doing things, as the game is basically a glorified chatroom - you'll have a google doc that has logs of the testimonies/cross examinations, evidence, etc. Each player takes a role in the courtroom, like the judge, witness, detective, defense, or prosecution.
Cases are written by everyone involved, and since there's no objective win or lose beyond what the judge of the case rules, everyone tries to make the game fun instead of playing to win. There's always that one fucking guy (eg. "there's no finger prints on the knife because the murderer had GLOVES ON!!1!") but it's otherwise a good time
It's one of the funniest games I've ever played - some of the character animations combined with witty players can lead to some fits of laughter that lead to tears
[youtube]Y1_uTFb7iTg[/youtube]
highlight of the first(?) case I did with my friends
There's a link to the download here, along with some other useful links (this was made for the vidya server): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ihs ... N78Qw/edit
EDIT: Even if you grab that client go here and update the game files - as of this post the latest version is 2.3.5, but the vidya pack is still only on 2.3.0
The client is actual ass and if you download the full game it's like 3.4GB thanks to all the dumb fucking music they include with the download, but the release of AO2 has certainly improved things on the usability side
It's super heavily dependent on who's playing it, but if anyone is interested I wouldn't mind a game or two with some /tg/ people

Sounds fun but only if there's a dedicated objection button.

technically you toggle your message saying OBJECTION/HOLD IT/the third one and then send the message, but ofc you can object/etc.

I was going to have my meme verdict where just as Roundabout kicks in past the intro the verdict is shown but before it got to that part the defendant (played by the defense??) changed the song and wrote [escapes the courtroom]cedarbridge wrote:>that endingQbopper wrote:I just ended another fucking mess of a case

it was about then I logged off for the night
The doc is kinda in shitty shape and it's missing the stuff at the end because things got super hectic and I was busy talking in game for a lot of it in a failed attempt to keep things on track so I'll do a quick writeup in a new post here

THE UNBEARABLE TURNABOUT
Genius Defense Attorney Phoenix Wright has been suspected of murder after a “secret meeting” ended in bloodshed. With every defense attorney refusing to defend Wright out of fear of failure, Phoenix is forced to turn to Larry Butz, an old childhood friend who just recently got his Bar against all odds, after following in Wright's footsteps. The Chief Prosecutor has assigned Sebastian Debeste to the case, in an attempt to make the trial “fair”.
On August 18th, at 10:02 PM, police received report of multiple gunshots coming from the Wright Anything Agency, and at 10:13 PM, the body of Will Powers was found with multiple gunshots to the body, as well as one to the head. Phoenix Wright was arrested due to the gun belonging to him, along with the fact that he was the only one on the premise when police got to the scene.
CAST:
EVIDENCE:
Stenographer's note: the person speaking has been denoted with abbreviations such as PRO, DEF, or JUD. You can figure them out from context, I'd imagine. This transcript has also been heavily edited to save the stenographer's wrists/sanity. Of note is the term "asspull" - an "asspull" is when someone comes up with brand new evidence. Ideally, this is used if the case has been ground to a standstill, and the detective "asspulls" new evidence in order to move things along.
If only that were the case here.
OPENING STATEMENT:
PRO: Your honorable[sic], it’s really quite a simple case. Mr. Wright must be the murder because no one else could be.
DEF: WRONG
PRO: Why, when we found him, he was the only one at the scene of the cr-
[silence]
[both butz and debeste look on the verge of tears]
PRO: Anyway, there could be no other killer, plain and simple. The idea that Phoenix Wright is not perfectly 100% guilty is riddiculous[sic]! It is the best option! Verdict now!
[he didn't give a verdict now]
TESTIMONY #1: EMA SKYE, DETECTIVE
STAND NAME: Ema Skye
STAND OCCUPATION: "Detective", annoying
Before Ms. Skye's testimony, some light banter is laid down - the prosecution attempts to mock Ms. Skye, but she responds with some sick remarks about Mr. Debeste's age.
DET: At least I'm not a kid.
PRO: I'm no kid! I'm 17! [in tears]
DET: Yeah, 17 years from graduating.
[sick joke about second murder case]
TESTIMONY #1:
CROSS EXAMINATION #1:
The defense and prosecution both had requests for Ms. Skye.
DEF & PRO: ayy girl give me ur digits
DET: actually die thanks
JUD: jesus christ
PRO: Actually, can you find out if there's prints on the door lock?
DET: Sure.
[the stenographer is confused by this request as a. it's a DOOR LOCK and b. IT WAS SMASHED SO SOMEONE COULD BREAK IN but doesn't speak up]
DEF: also can i have your phone number
JUD: if either of you ask that again I'm laying down a verdict then and there
The detective returned after a shot recess before the next testimony - they found that there were three sets of prints on the lock belonging to the defendant, Phoenix Wright, along with the victim, Will Powers, and Jacques Portsman.
TESTIMONY #2: JACQUES PORTSMAN, BASKETBALL PLAYER(?)
STAND NAME: Jacques Portsman
STAND OCCUPATION: "Basketball player", annoying
Before Mr. Portsman's testimony, the courtroom was filled with terribly demeaning remarks towards the Canadian judge, and multiple people were threatened with being held in contempt in court.
TESTIMONY #2:
CROSS EXAMINATION #2:
TESTIMONY #2a:
CROSS EXAMINATION #2a:
SURPRISE TESTIMONY #3: PHOENIX WRIGHT, FORMER DA
STAND NAME: Phoenix Wright
STAND OCCUPATION: Former legendary defense attorney, professional pain in the judge's ass, "streamer"
Before Mr. Wright's testimony, the judge noted Mr. Wright drinking from a large wine bottle. He asked Wright to approach the judge for a word. The judge asked him if he could have a swig.
Mr. Wright explained that his current profession was livestreaming on Twitch. Mr. Portsman, due to his injury, was also streaming with Wright.
TESTIMONY #3:
CROSS EXAMINATION #3:
At this point, the court erupted into a never ending stream of personal attacks, wild theories, and complete bullshit. Eventually, the prosecution determined that unless Mr. Wright could prove one crucial fact wron-
Oh. Mr. Wright just admitted to the crime.
VERDICT: GUILTY

Re: Attorney Online, or "HE HAD GLOVES ON"
It's all improv, but you write up a case BEFORE you play, and if someone does the "haha i'm going to ignore the way people want to play this game and shitpost unfunny stuff all the time because there's no mods ahaha lol" someone will call a global admin and likely get you kicked, so there's some level of structure to thingsiamgoofball wrote:holy shit how do i play

the person who wrote the case above decided to use the quote unquote worst characters in the game for each role, fun fact
I play on a personal server with my pals because some of the public games can have cases that are (for lack of a better word) epics in length - they can take a fairly long time to finish depending on how complex things are/the people you play with
EDIT: forgot the "how do I play"
there's a popular public server that uses a fair amount of custom content - you can go to this google doc for downloads/guides/etc.
It's a much bigger download than the vanilla client but the vast majority of people use this thanks to the extra characters/etc. included. the majority of the download is just stupid music files and shit unfortunately
it's essentially "play Ace Attorney but with multiple people" though so if you know how that game's trials work you're set
dunno about edgy's dad but there's thisAnonmare wrote:I remember being itnerested in this back in '13 I think. I'm pretty sure I remember one guy who played Edgeworth's father fairly well, the phrase "Could I be retarded?" comes to mind

non murder cases are tougher to do due to the way aa works fyi
seems like it's a little too in your face with the dildo humor imo
re: the hard-drive that's not how evidence works, you don't write down backup evidence - the detective comes up with something relevant in the heat of the moment and presents it in order to help the case out
seems like there's a lot going on which is cool if you want a longer case, lots of different stuff to explore

Jokes aside, nice to see the communities mixing, though there's whispers that people from here are the reason why some cases have been crashing more in recent days.
I'd say get into Attorney Online Vidya and try to get into the spirit of cases there. In the past two weeks we've indicted a cockatrice, had a Highlander quickening battle and gone back in time, twice in one case, to save the life of a witness using ghost tricks.

Our format in AOV is something like this, though subject to change when it makes sense.Armhulen wrote:I'd love to do this but i forgot how cases go
like who does what
>Acquire lead-def, lead-pro, judge, stenographer, detective, witness 1 & witness 2
>Optionally acquire witness 3, co-def, co-pro, support def, support pro, co-stenographer
>Case starts
>Prosecution's opening statement
>Detective gives testimony
>Testimonies play out with defense asking questions, witness responding, prosecution shooting 'em down etc.
>Until, with objections etc, enough doubt is available for the next witness
>Typically the detective has findings on evidence etc., can be given requests for more specific information before they leave, and a next witness after them is pretty much guaranteed
>Witness 1 testifies and is cross-examined as well
>Defense has to raise enough reasonable doubt for the judge to allow the case to continue
>Then detective's findings from earlier questions, usually involving dramatic asspulls
>Then a recess, usually.
>Then witness 2 etc.
>Repeat until game ends naturally, rarely go past wit 2.
This format goes wildly off the rails on a regular basis in an entertaining way. Just gotta play along with it.

AOV is a circlejerking ERPing cessdump, do notAnonymousNow wrote:Jokes aside, nice to see the communities mixing, though there's whispers that people from here are the reason why some cases have been crashing more in recent days.
I'd say get into Attorney Online Vidya and try to get into the spirit of cases there. In the past two weeks we've indicted a cockatrice, had a Highlander quickening battle and gone back in time, twice in one case, to save the life of a witness using ghost tricks.

Oh man AO is the shit. I think the last time I played every single person in the courtroom confessed to the murder over the course of the trial, which ended in the judge declaring himself guilty.

There is one great outcome from this: I rised up the blood pressure of some of you shitheads and lowered your lifespan. I'm honestly tempted to do this more often just to see you screech and writhe more, but that wouldn't be cool of me. So come on haters, show me some more of your high blood pressure please.

Re: Attorney Online, or "HE HAD GLOVES ON"
quote from in progress case
[Wright immediately fucks up and forfeits his right to cross examine]
help me
edit: ok holy shit that went on for far too long and i got so tired i stopped writing down what was happening near the end
the defense was incredibly focused on minor details and that held us up
the first witness was literally completely useless and his testimony was thrown out because he said "lol none of tht awas true"
the defense and prosecution came together and truthfagged up a solution but the judge said mistrial because, and I quote, "I wasn't paying attention"

I played too much of this game and ended up making too many maps for it.
I'll probably go back before the year is through.

no, everyone comes up with stuff and you write the case together (usually)calzilla1 wrote:So are the crimes randomly generated or what?
I mean it depends on what you want to do, you could get a prewritten one or whatever, but the client is essentially just a chatroom, you usually use a google doc for details/evidence/logs

again, depends on your group, I usually play in my own games, but from what I understand the vast majority of games are pretty much the opposite of seriouscalzilla1 wrote:Hows the tone? like, there's the expectation that you'll play the game and not be that one douche ruining it for everyone, but beyond that it's essentially no holds barred
look I know it's your thing to be rude to people as a meme but that's genuinely fucking hurtfullntigracy wrote:Also OP is a Mia player.
