Borg brain policy
This needs a bit of context to understand properly, so I'l give it
I did ahelp this issue but no response, so I figure this is the best place for it
Playing as roboticist, give security cyborg an upgraded powercell, I notice it's interface is damaged (that means it is hacked from an emag or the AI controlling it), I flash it, decon it, and speak to the brain
The brain tells me the HoP emagged it, and I rebuild it, and tell it go kill the HoP
2 minutes later it comes into RnD, murders me with lasers, and then proceeds to murder everyone else
Now, what I want to know is, is it okay to lie as a brain in order to do this, it's a bit of a grey area if you ask me, the brain is technically no longer an antagonist when it isn't a cyborg, because the cyborgs laws are what make it an antagonist, yet lying to someone to get you rebuilt in order to get a murderbone on, is indeed lame
Is this something that people should be doing, or shouldn't?

Re: Borg brain policy
When you become a brain you have full knowledge of what transpired when you were a borg. At least this is what I think was what was decided, to encourage people who subvert borgs to make sure they don't die and rat on them.
HOWEVER: Brains are still human brains with no laws to prevent them from lying. Maybe he doesn't like being a brain. Maybe he wanted to go back to being a borg so he lied to you.
Was the HoP really not the person who subverted him? Was he actually subverted by the AI? Then yeah, this is kind of your fault - You should probably never trust people to not lie because there isn't a rule against it outside of 'don't be a dick' so it was shitty of him and I think I remember people getting banned over this but an experienced admin is more likely to know what lines this might have crossed.

Re: Borg brain policy
Sounds kinda shitty in a different way, do you know what round this was? I'd like to stick my nose in it a little further out of curiosity.

Re: Borg brain policy
I can give you a rough time
It was between 8-11 this morning for me, which would be 11-8 hours ago
The AI was also a traitor during this round, which should help pinpoint it

I don't see it as a huge problem, odds are you aren't getting put back un your body as an MMI and being a brain I'm a backpack sucks ass

The most excessive signature on /tg/station13.
Still not even at the limit after 8 fucking years.
The evil holoparasite user I can't believe its not DIO and his holoparasite I can't believe its not Skub have been defeated by the Spacedust Crusaders, but what has been taken from the station can never be returned.

Re: Borg brain policy
I appreciate the information, knew there was a bigger underlying problem here.
As for the brain thing, brains are more or less human and aren't obligated by silicon laws in any way. So it lying to you is totally up to how much of an ass he feels like being at the time.

Re: Borg brain policy
You told it to kill the HoP initially as a borg? Were the laws not Asimov?

Re: Borg brain policy
Hi. Borg here.
I was a roundstart borg, and due to antag checking, the AI and I (The borg) both rolled changeling, atleast that's what i gathered from Blessed. I was a changeling though, I had absorb genome objectives.
He fixed that, and gave the AI a law 0. The AI hacked me early on, and when you detected that and fixed it, being a roundstart borg I wanted to help the AI (I also like being borg so there's that.)
When you deconstructed me, I lied in the best interest of the AI I served as soon as the round started, and when I was reborged, I made sure nothing could go wrong again by asking the AI to hack me, killing you, then our objectives, then everyone else so the HoP could complete his objectives.

Re: Borg brain policy
The HoP was a changeling, and the brain even admitted as much to me, he said it was a "traitor changeling"Cipher3 wrote:You told it to kill the HoP initially as a borg? Were the laws not Asimov?
Thanks for the clarification, next time I'm just gonna turn the brains into burgers
