But we had those, and no one ever used them.

Plus we currently have a group chat in-game, which is just as unused, the NTnet chat program which is a part of modular computers. I am betting that even if we replaced PDAs with tablets, it still would go unused.Lumbermancer wrote:But we had those, and no one ever used them.

Re: Group chats in the pda
To be fair tablets are clumsy, annoying, slow, and require a little bit of effort to acquire.
Anyways, as for PDAs, I can think of a ton of ways to use them, when did they use to be a thing? It sounds useful as fuck in a lot of scenarios. Would anything be lost re adding them?

Re: Group chats in the pda
just port baycode pdas as well as their email client and tablets can exist as a more powerful version of the pda that you have to explicitly go out of your way to build. ezpz.Gun Hog wrote:Plus we currently have a group chat in-game, which is just as unused, the NTnet chat program which is a part of modular computers. the only real problem with this per se is remaking the functionality of every PDA module

Re: Group chats in the pda
This. I once went out of my way spending an hour building personal laptops for every member of the crew so we could all be in a chatroom together, and the only practical use we got out of it was one time comms went down it let us keep track of our miner. Radio is just more convenient to use - plus the way the chatrooms actually work is obnoxious, chat flows downwards but the Send button is at the top, so you have to constantly scroll through the entire conversation to send or read new messages.Gun Hog wrote:Plus we currently have a group chat in-game, which is just as unused, the NTnet chat program which is a part of modular computers.
