Beepsky = Server Lag
So according to Aran last night, Beepsky gets stuck and his pathfinding causes massive lag. Today I checked Beepsky and he was indeed stuck at arrivals as the server was dying for no good reason. I asked the badmins to kill him, they did, and server was instantly better.
I just think it should be known as a solution to the problem, if only a temporary one until the pathfinding issue can be looked at and fixed.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Beepsky's been doing this shit for months now. Everyone knows his A* code is terrible and nobody wants to touch it's complex and not used by much besides Beepsky.
I code for the code project and moderate the code sections of the forums.

Well guess sec should make a habit of putting Ol' Beeper down behind the brig till this is fixed.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Please officers can hardly work the sec records I think coding is beyond them. Would turning his patrol off and dragging him work?

Usually when officers do that they are called P2W assholes.Incomptinence wrote:Please officers can hardly work the sec records I think coding is beyond them. Would turning his patrol off and dragging him work?
I have first hand experience.
Can also ask JLP.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Would assume so, their pathfinding code appears to be the same.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Would it be possible to remove their patrol code for the time being to prevent further server lagging events?
It's not preferable but I think people would accept good server performance with Sec dragging Beepsky around more consistently.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Wasn't beepsky's pathfinding 'improved' not too long back?
Why not revert him back to his obviously not shitterly broken code

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Why not have him moved in a set circle around the station and stopping at any impass like a MULE?
It would give security something to micromanage if they want to, and it's kinda funny.
"Officer Beepsky is stuck on the damn vending machine again. Someone sort that fucker out."

Building bots on bay is highly discouraged because they cause lag, apparently.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
That's no longer the case, for the most part. The say code revamp fixed a majority of the lag issues there.

Re: Beepsky = Server Lag
Can we make beepsky follow sec officers instead like a true powergaming guard dog
