Re: oranges was here
Despite the fact that the tower of babel is likely allegorical i think it's cool I think ziggurats are cool and that we should build more I mean they're stepped pyramids so they look kinda neat though when people think of them they think of them being made of mudbricks but they likely would have been much more impressive at their peak kind of like the pyramids of giza did you know that the pyramids of giza used to be smooth because they had sandstone or some shit on them so they were bright white they also had gold peaks though I wonder how they were lost imagine trying to get a bunch of guys to remove the gold peaks speaking off one of the small pyramids to the side of the great pyramids of giza has a few blocks separated because the arabs tried removing them but it was such a daunting task that they became tired and gave up eventually which reminds me of another wonder of the ancient world which is the hanging gardens of Babylon which possibly didn't exist but I like to think that it was just a giant ziggurat but with gardens and shit since some ziggurats did have that by the way speaking of ziggurats did you know that ur one of the first cities in Mesopotamia and the world as a whole used to be costal it's now inland but it's kinda neat only a few other cities I can think of had something like that happen to them but never to such an extent oh well i guess that's what happens when you are in a relatively flat era with lots of silting anyways garden ziggurats weren't all uncommon infact a similar tale comes from the Assyrians building garden ziggurats though they tended to be much smaller and less impressive than their mesopotamian counterparts anyways what was this conversation about oh right I guess world wonders well I think that its a shame that only the pyramids are left but I guess that kind of makes sense considering that triangles are one of the strongest shapes so it would make sense that a giant fuckoff pile of stones would stay together speaking of I think that stonehenge is overrated and I think that other similar celtic sites are much more impressive honestly speaking off apparently there are studies to suggest that stonehenge was actually moved from wales at some point how you convince them to move it so far is a bit confusing but make no mistake stonehenge wasn't always this pile of stones at one point it was made of wood anyways I think that brings forth my next point in which I need to state that saying that aliens built whatever is super lame and a cop out people are morons yes but they are also surprisingly impressive when they need to be for example the pyramid blocks have been suggested to have been moved via pouring water which would make it easier to move them because there's less drag on the sand anyways why don't people ever say that aliens built hadrians wall or the coliseum i mean come on even aliens don't like barbarians i think it's just a cop out for fuck sakes i mean people even say aliens built great Zimbabwe or the moai and I think that's bullshit because it seems to be a thing that people could totally do I mean come on speaking of great Zimbabwe two of the proposals by europeans when they examined the site suggested that it could either be a lost tribe of Israel or a carthaginian colony I mean that's kinda random because that's a long journey and carthaginians wouldn't have been able to make it anyways speaking of britan and carthage carthage actually did go up to Britain to trade shit since they wanted tin which is surprisingly rare compared to copper which are both needed for bronze during the bronze age the two main sources were from Britain and from modern Afghanistan which were both very dangerous trips especially at the time I think the bronze age is cool but the reason it ended wasn't due to sea people I think that the sea people excuse is overdone no doubt there were seaborne marauders but there was also droughts earthquakes breakdowns in trade and political instability its kinda like how people try to claim that one or two issues doomed the western half of the roman empire when in reality it was due to a mirriad of reasons very rarely does a nation or kingdom fall into ruin because of one issue and that remains the same I mean you had the protogreeks the hittites, the Assyrians to an extent, and the egyptians to an extent either completely collapse or fall into a rump state its clear that they could survive but anyways there is also the point that some of the sea peoples were actually named by the egyptians in rameses the third I thinks tomb which also match the names of earlier seaborn and close bandits some of the names the egyptians give the seaborne raiders also match up with areas so its likely that they were more like refugees and marauders for example the greeks might have been raiding after the collapse of their political systems it would make sense that even the survivors would be wounded after the collapse was over since the trade routes that existed prior to the bronze age collapse fell themselves i mean there have been multiple ships found dating to prior to the collapse that carried trade goods from multiple kingdoms. Speaking of the bronze age there's a few tablets asking for help or food during the collapse as famine and earthquakes rocked the eastern medeteranian for example one was asking for help because "the enemy is upon us and you know my men are up in Hatti" but it was never sent because the city was sacked as the tablet sat in the oven speaking of only about ten percent of cuneiform tablets have been translated which makes me sad because sometimes they have interesting stories for example there was a guy named Ea-nasir who kept a collection of complaint tablets he got from customers for example the most iconic one says "Tell Ea-nasir: Nanni sends the following message: when you came, you said to me as follows : "I will give Gimil-Sin (when he comes) fine quality copper ingots." You left then but you did not do what you promised me. You put ingots which were not good before my messenger (Sit-Sin) and said: "If you want to take them, take them; if you do not want to take them, go away!" what do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt? I have sent as messengers gentlemen like ourselves to collect the bag with my money (deposited with you) but you have treated me with contempt by sending them back to me empty-handed several times, and that through enemy territory. Is there anyone among the merchants who trade with Telmun who has treated me in this way? You alone treat my messenger with contempt! On account of that one (trifling) mina of silver which I owe(?) you, you feel free to speak in such a way, while I have given to the palace on your behalf 1,080 pounds of copper, and umi-abum has likewise given 1,080 pounds of copper, apart from what we both have had written on a sealed tablet to be kept in the temple of Samash ow have you treated me for that copper? You have withheld my money bag from me in enemy territory; it is now up to you to restore (my money) to me in full. take cognizance that (from now on) I will not accept here any copper from you that is not of fine quality. I shall (from now on) select and take the ingots individually in my own yard, and I shall exercise against you my right of rejection because you have treated me with contempt." i think this is kinda funny because there are people here in this community that kind of act like this but anyways that wraps up my teded talk come back next week when I rant about how a lot of cultures building pyramids around the world doesn't mean there was a planet spanning civilization or aliens like some people think kthanxbyeAnnihilite111 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 6:26 pmThis is nothing compared to the tower of Babel, said to be so tall that it pierced the heavens and intruded upon God's holy sanctum itself.conrad wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 5:51 pmBEEG QUOTE TOWERCMDR_Gungnir wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 5:29 pmYou started a rant in my general direction so I assumed it was related to what I was talking about.Annihilite111 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 2:54 pmVegemite?CMDR_Gungnir wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 11:35 amHi, quick question!Annihilite111 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 21, 2023 10:31 amYour politics are so incredibly fucked lmao. kind of like the pyramids of giza did you know that the pyramids of giza used to be smooth because they had sandstone or some shit on them so they were bright white they also had gold peaks though I wonder how they were lost imagine trying to get a bunch of guys to remove the gold peaks speaking off one of the small pyramids to the side of the great pyramids of giza has a few blocks separated because the arabs tried removing them but it was such a daunting task that they became tired and gave up eventually which reminds me of another wonder of the ancient world which is the hanging gardens of Babylon which possibly didn't exist but I like to think that it was just a giant ziggurat but with gardens and shit since some ziggurats did have that by the way speaking of ziggurats did you know that ur one of the first cities in Mesopotamia and the world as a whole used to be costal it's now inland but it's kinda neat only a few other cities I can think of had something like that happen to them but never to such an extent oh well i guess that's what happens when you are in a relatively flat era with lots of silting anyways garden ziggurats weren't all uncommon infact a similar tale comes from the Assyrians building garden ziggurats though they tended to be much smaller and less impressive than their mesopotamian counterparts anyways what was this conversation about oh right I guess world wonders well I think that its a shame that only the pyramids are left but I guess that kind of makes sense considering that triangles are one of the strongest shapes so it would make sense that a giant fuckoff pile of stones would stay together speaking of I think that stonehenge is overrated and I think that other similar celtic sites are much more impressive honestly speaking off apparently there are studies to suggest that stonehenge was actually moved from wales at some point how you convince them to move it so far is a bit confusing but make no mistake stonehenge wasn't always this pile of stones at one point it was made of wood anyways I think that brings forth my next point in which I need to state that saying that aliens built whatever is super lame and a cop out people are morons yes but they are also surprisingly impressive when they need to be for example the pyramid blocks have been suggested to have been moved via pouring water which would make it easier a cop out for fuck sakes i mean people even say aliens built great Zimbabwe or the moai and I think that's bullshit because it seems to be a thing that people could totally do I mean come on speaking of great Zimbabwe two of the proposals by europeans when they examined the site suggested that it could either be a lost tribe of Israel or a carthaginian colony I mean that's kinda random because that's a long journey and carthaginians wouldn't have been able to make it anyways speaking of britan and carthage carthage actually did go up to Britain to trade shit since they wanted tin which is surprisingly rare compared to copper which are both needed for bronze during the bronze age the two main sources were from Britain and from modern Afghanistan which were both very dangerous trips especially at the time I think the bronze age is cool but the reason it ended wasn't due to sea people I think that the sea people excuse is overdone no doubt there were seaborne marauders but there was also droughts earthquakes breakdowns in trade and political instability its kinda like how people try to claim that one or two issues doomed the western half of the roman empire when in reality it was due to a mirriad of reasons very rarely does a nation or kingdom fall into ruin because of one issue and that remains the same I mean you had the protogreeks the hittites, the Assyrians to an extent, and the egyptians to an extent either completely collapse or fall into a rump state its clear that they could survive but anyways there is also the point that some of the sea peoples were actually named by the egyptians in rameses the third I thinks tomb which also match the names of earlier seaborn and close bandits some of the names the egyptians give the seaborne raiders also match up with areas so its likely that they were more like refugees and marauders for example the greeks might have been raiding after the collapse of their political systems it would make sense that even the survivors would be wounded after the collapse was over since the trade routes that existed prior to the bronze age collapse fell themselves i mean there have been multiple ships found dating to prior to the collapse that carried trade goods from multiple kingdoms. Re: oranges was here
In this modern era of information and digital communication, the creation of online content, including blog posts, articles, and social media updates, has become a ubiquitous and essential aspect of many individuals and businesses' operations. In such a context, the length and amount of information included in a given post can have a significant impact on the post's overall communicative effectiveness and audience engagement. In fact, many experts suggest that making posts bigger, without a clear and justifiable purpose, can be detrimental to a post's success in various ways.RedBaronFlyer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 9:58 amWell, the reason I made the long-ass post was to make the quote chain bigger, so that succeeded, I guess.dirk_mcblade wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 9:56 amBrevity is the soul of wit.RedBaronFlyer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 22, 2023 8:36 am I actually put effort into that historical schizo post. I actually made sure to have the proper grounds for going between topics like such posts do. (or at least it being somewhat related enough to go between topics)
I'm disappointed that no one actually read it.
This must be what my parents feel like every day after talking with me.
To begin with, creating larger posts can result in reduced readability, which can lead to a host of negative outcomes. When online readers encounter lengthy posts, they are often hesitant to invest their valuable time and energy in comprehending the content, especially if the text is presented in an intimidating or difficult-to-read format. This can quickly create a sense of disinterest and disengagement on the part of the reader, resulting in an increased likelihood of the reader leaving the post before taking any desired action. Therefore, it can be concluded that excessively large posts can lead to higher bounce rates, which can negatively impact the overall effectiveness of the post.
Additionally, longer posts can reduce engagement levels and decrease the effectiveness of social media and content marketing strategies. In a world where information is available at the click of a button, it is important to engage readers quickly and effectively. While certain types of content, such as research papers, may require a larger word count, the same cannot be said for most online content, where readers are more likely to scan content quickly. By creating large, dense blocks of text, readers may become disinterested or feel overwhelmed, thereby diminishing the post's potential for engagement. A lack of engagement can lead to lower click-through rates, reduced shares, and decreased interactions with the post, making it less effective in generating new business or retaining existing clients.
Moreover, creating larger posts can also have an impact on the time and resources that are required for content creation. Writing and publishing a high-quality blog post or article is already a time-consuming and resource-intensive task, but increasing the length of a post can add an additional layer of complexity to the process. The task of generating larger posts can be especially challenging for writers who are trying to produce high-quality content on a tight deadline, resulting in decreased productivity and potentially impacting the quality of the work.
Finally, creating larger posts can also result in the potential for redundancy, which can ultimately detract from the overall quality of the post. When writers are trying to increase the length of a post, they may feel compelled to include additional content or add more detail to existing information, rather than focusing on creating high-quality, unique content. This can lead to a dilution of the post's primary message and may even cause confusion or disinterest among readers.
In conclusion, making posts bigger without a clear purpose or justification can have negative effects on the communicative efficacy and engagement of said posts. By creating excessively large posts, readers may become disengaged, resulting in increased bounce rates, reduced engagement, and lower click-through rates. Furthermore, the task of creating larger posts can be resource-intensive, potentially reducing productivity and impacting the quality of the work. Therefore, it is generally advisable to keep posts concise, focused, and engaging, which can facilitate better audience engagement and maximize the effectiveness of the content.
