I do not think that is true at all, and looking at either map side by side will tell you that immediately. The map is almost four times the size of birdboat, and has almost none of the features of the first map remaining. Some loosely inspired parts, but not complete copies. It has the more modern mapping considerations and improvements for aesthetic.

The general location of the departments are somewhat faithful in most cases, but there is so much more in between and across the station as a whole, and the layout of those departments in of themselves, you can't really call them the same map whatsoever. You could not find anything on Birdshot by attempting to use Birdboat as a reference, as an example.

Alright, I'll admit I was wrong. I haven't ever seen the map of Birdboat, I just remember playing on it back in the day and getting lost, along with some unique features that Birdshot retained. Still, I stand by my point that Birdshot inherited the worst of what Birdboat had to offer, which was an awful layout. The map is extremely easy to get lost in from a player's perspective, and once something happens that forces the player to take a detour (bomb goes off in one of the "main" halls), you will probably not find how to get where you want to go without some external map like this one. Coincidentally, this was one of the biggest issues I remember with trying to navigate Birdboat.

It's covered under rule 1, as "destroying a large chunk of the station because you don't like the map" is pretty objectively a dick move.

the worst part about the shit maps are the people that ruin it for everyone else, if a map is unpopular that map will not last more than 45 minutes due to everyone calling shuttle cause x map bad, its the reason why i stopped playing kilo and refused to play it because everytime i put effort into doing a project the shuttle would just get called without an actual reason other than map bad.
